Google+ vs Facebook

So what social network am I using?  Well, if you had asked 6months ago I would have probably answered with with a resounding vote for Facebook and been proud to say so.  However, my answer has changed to Google+....somewhat.  Do I still use Facebook?  Of course I do, I simply enjoy some of the features and atmosphere that I get from Google+.  I feel like Facebook is for all the people you already know and kind of just want to stay in touch while Google+ is more of a place for you to go and meet new people and actually have social discussions on topics of interest.  With Facebook I feel like i'm always being bombarded with invites to random online games or shown the latest and greatest "chain letter" equivalent post.  And I just don't get that feeling from Google+.  The feeling I get from Google+ is a simple, clean, organized interface where I know where things are and why.  Over the past years, Facebook's interface has become cluttered and very confusing for me.  I think this confusion is, in part, caused by Facebook trying to tie into so many different websites and companies.

That brings me to my next reason for loving Google+.  It's true that I am a Google fan.  I use all of their services sans Google Wallet.  I have been using Google products since 2004 and I haven't looked back.  I thoroughly enjoy the fact that Google+ ties into all of Google's products flawlessly.  I can very easily store picture using Picasa and online web albums and then share them on Google+ with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Facebook has tried to do similar things with their service but they are more or less just using the same log in information that you use on Facebook to log into other sites.  This actually is a bit of a scare for me b/c I don't know how I feel about other sights "having" access to my Facebook log in and profile.  That idea just scares me a little.

In conclusion, I don't feel that one is necessarily better than the other.  I feel that which ever one provides you with the services and access you wish to have is the one that you should go with and use.  Do I think that Facebook is behind the times or stuck in an old business model?  Yes.  Do I feel that Google+ is more innovative and more cutting edge?  Yes.  In the end it's really up to you to decide which you will likely use until the next social networking site comes along.
